What is changing?

Our university has multifunctional devices for printing, copying and scanning at many locations. Students can use these with a copy card.

A new contract for the devices came into effect at the start of the winter semester. Both the devices and the software will therefore be gradually updated until 31 December 2025. As the new software is not compatible with the previous system, all existing credit on the copy cards must be used up completely.

New credit chargers for your copy card will also be provided for the devices with the new software. Further information on the locations of the updated devices and the new chargers can be found below.

What will happen to my existing credit?

Any credit that you transfer or have transferred to your copy card using an old charger should be used up by 31 December 2025 at the latest. This is possible on all devices that have not yet been updated with the new software (link to the list below).

Existing credit from the old chargers cannot be paid out and will expire after 31 December 2025!

How are the devices being updated? Where can I find the devices with the new or old software?

The multifunction devices are being gradually converted to the new system.

Since 24 November 2025, various devices at different locations have been running with the new software. A list of locations with these devices can be found here https://www.itmz.uni-rostock.de/service/nutzerkonto/chipkarte-zutritts-kopierfunktion/gestattungsvertag-drucken/kopieren/scannen/. All devices not listed there are still running the old software and can thus be used to use up old credit.

How do I use the new devices?

The new devices can only be used with credit that has been transferred to your copy card using the new chargers. The new chargers are currently located at the following locations.

• University main building, room 020 (Universitätsplatz 1, 18055 Rostock)
• Südstadt Library, Magazin 1 (Albert-Einstein-Str. 6, 18059 Rostock)
